Thank you for the outpouring of support for the defendants in the lawsuit brought by neighbors seeking to have a disabled, autistic boy declared a "public nuisance." The family is deeply appreciative of your many emails and comments.
At this point, in response to questions and comments, some clarifications:
(1) A request. Many people, rightfully outraged by the "public nuisance" and "decreased property values" claims, have advocated writing directly to the court, the parties, and/or the attorneys in this matter. We do not feel that targeting or personally approaching any person associated with this lawsuit is appropriate. It is our hope that justice will prevail the old-fashioned way, with a judgment firmly in favor of defendants on all claims. Harassment, name-calling or unprofessional or undignified conduct will not help the defendants' case and is strongly discouraged.
If you would like to share your personal stories, letters of support, or other concerns regarding this lawsuit, the family would be grateful if you would send them to us at info@sfautisociety.org. We will collect and forward the emails to them.
(2) Donations. A great many people have generously offered to help support this family with financial donations. At this time the family is not requesting contributions to a legal defense fund, but if you would like to support general efforts to assist autism families facing discrimination and civil rights abuses, the family would appreciate tax-deductible donations made to our nonprofit for that purpose:
