Stanford Autism Center / Autism Society San Francisco Bay Area 2019 Conference:
Deadline for submissions: July 31, 2019 [Closed]
Thank you for submitting a proposal to present a talk, panel, or discussion group at the Stanford Autism Center / Autism Society San Francisco Bay Area 2019 conference. This event is geared toward the pragmatic information needs of parents and caregivers of teens and adults with autism and related developmental disabilities.
Formats include: general sessions, breakout sessions, information tables (sponsors only) and discussion groups. We expect about 40 speakers and 450 live attendees, and selected mainstage presentations may be videotaped, see conference archives for past examples.
Proposals may relate to any of the following areas, among others:
- Housing
- Employment
- Day programs
- Public benefits
- Conservatorship
- Self-Determination program
- IPPs and Regional Center issues
- Transition IEPs
- Policy affecting services for adults with autism and related DDs
- Parent support and wellness
- Recreation, social programs, and community involvement
- Financial planning
- Special Needs Trusts
- ABLE accounts
- Medical care
- Dental care
- Psychiatric care
- Health insurance and Medi-Cal
- Law enforcement and first responders
- Sexuality and preventing abuse
Before you submit your conference proposal, please note the following:
- Criteria for acceptance: (1) Value and pragmatic relevance of content to our community; (2) Qualifications of the presenter(s); (3) Timing allowance.
- The conference committee will review the proposals after the deadline and in late August and early September 2019 will notify submitters of proposal status.
- The committee retains discretion to group various submissions together in a single session or otherwise alter the format proposed by the presenters.
- The committee retains discretion to classify your presentation as any format, eg, breakout, lunch discussion group, panel, or mainstage.
- You may be asked to deliver your presentation in more than one session.
- The committee retains discretion to edit the wording of your presentation title and description in all conference materials.
- Presenters allow posting of their images, information and/or presentation on our websites or via other electronic or printed means.
- We may suggest that some topics be presented as webinars in addition to or in lieu of conference presentations.
- Presenters have no expectation of compensation or reimbursement of expenses.
- Autism Society San Francisco Bay Area welcomes sponsorships, which run $500 and up. Sponsors will have tables in the foyer area. For more information please email info@sfautismsociety.org.
